Every summer when the mainstage goes dark, the barn transforms into a laboratory for new work. Barnyard Theatre is proud to be one of only a few Sacramento area theatre companies that produces new plays, and the Festival gives us an opportunity to celebrate living theatre.

WEDNESDAY: Play Reading (or The Actor's Play)
On a magical night in New Jersey, the stars talk to Abe, Sal gets a tattoo and a journey begins.  Abe and Sal take off across the country, following the stars and looking for Birth and Life. This two-character play is a comic meditation on faith, doubt, fertility and spirituality.  Jennifer Provenza will lead Barnyard's actors in a full day acting intensive that will culminate in a dramatic reading of this new play by Deborah Brevoort (award-winning playwright whose previous works include WOMEN OF LOCKERBIE.)

THURSDAY: Workshop of Psyche by Meghan Brown
A young poet wastes away in the attic coaxing poetry from his muse, the immortal Psyche. His mother, an actress recently released from rehab, works to save him. Be part of the artistic process as we complete a week-long intensive workshop with the playwright.
